OProject Insight
oooTelling the story of health disparities through a new lens
challenges is healthcare. As the President and many others
have noted, health and well-being is multi-factorial and is
inextricably linked to other issues such as the environment,
unemployment, etc. As future healthcare leaders, we can
support the movement to reform our health care system and
uncovering other inequities such as environmental injustices
that impact health and well being.

If you are interested in advancing this idea, please join
SNMA
in an exciting initiative, Project Insight, which is geared towards
telling the stories of our friends, family members, or individuals is
our communities who experience health-care and environment
related challenges every day of their lives.

What are the goals of Project Insight?
Project Insight seeks to bring awareness to the impact that the environment has on health as an
approach to addressing disparities in health, given that minority groups often live in communities that
are detrimental to their health.

How can I get involved?
Submit a photo or video clip that demonstrates environmental or social hazards to their communities,
accompanied by a 100 word statement on what the photo/video reveals and how this affects the
community.

What will happen to the photo/video you or your chapter submits?
Your Photo/video submissions and essays will be reviewed by the Health Policy and Legislative Affairs
committee and could be featured in an upcoming JSNMA.  Additionally, these images and statements
will be compiled to serve as the SNMA's voice for Health Equity.

How do you and your chapter benefit for participating in this initiate?
The benefits of engaging in this initiative range from raising awareness about the environmental
hazards that affect the health of your community to developing tangible solutions/recommendations
that local, state, and federal policy makers can utilize to improve the conditions of our environment.
